Testimonials – extremely personal

In the course of its history, Agrarboden Ltd. – formerly Alfred Jörns Land- und Forstgütervermittlung und Agrarboden Land- und Forstgütervermittlung – has successfully concluded well over one thousand transactions. Over the course of the last three years alone we have handled more than 15,000 ha of farming and forestry land for our clients.

A number of examples of our successful activities are listed below:

Egon Plietker, westphlian farmer

Egon Plietker

The Oberbauerschaft district of Ascheberg in Munsterland, Germany. We have an appointment with Egon Plietker, the owner of a large bovine feedlot, as well as an arable farm. We turn off the A-road onto the farm track leading to an attractive farmhouse. All the farm building, including the farmhouse, have been either newly built or superbly renovated. We stop the car and get out. And there he comes to greet us, Egon Plietker. When we remark on how well-kept his property is, he replies simply: “Yes, I suppose it is. We did a bit of reconstruction. Now we have a feedlot for more than 600 bulls.” Egon Plietker acquired his farm through Agrarboden.

Hermann Mühlendyck has always been a down-to-earth type of person

Hermann Mühlendyck

Despite actually being an idyllic recreational area in the Rhine Valley, Essen-Kettwig – the southernmost district of the German city of Essen – is actually known for its industry. The area is a mixture of huge farm holdings, sedate residential areas and large country estates – the most significant of which is the Villa Hügel on the Baldeney Lake, the owner of which is the German industrial dynasty Krupp. These days, wherever you look, southwest Essen is dominated by apartment buildings: but without warning the visitor suddenly finds himself on Mühlendyck’s Weg. And there is a good reason for that. Until about 40 years ago, the Mühlendyck family had owned fields in the small idyllic valley where they had farmed for centuries. To this day, the ancient – but absolutely modern – farm where the Mühlendycks live has remained an oasis in the midst of the high-powered hustle and bustle of suburban Essen. Hermann Mühlendyck, however, is still actively involved in farming, both at home and abroad. He is one of Agrarboden’s regular clients.

Ludger Kappenberg’s good fortune in hunting, twice over

Ludger Kappenberg

The German municipality of Nordkirchen is known for its magnificent baroque palace. Because of it, the small town is frequently referred to as the ‘Versailles of Westphalia’. But what I hadn’t known until now is that it can also boast its very own delightful little kingdom. It was on my way to visit Ludger KappenbergI that I came across it, in fact, I couldn’t actually miss it: an entire area with shops, including a supermarket with ample parking facilities, and a popular restaurant – all within easy distance of the centre of Nordkirchen. A rarity in today’s Germany! The entire complex was built by Ludger Kappenberg, who I am visiting to find out about the story of his own shoot. Before setting off, Dirk Meier Westhoff had already told me, “We at Agrarboden are, of course, particularly appreciative of this kind of success story, as a lot of those who have the chance to turn their forests or farm lands into building plots often end up wishing they were still farming them.”
